Parenting Coordination

The overall objective of parenting coordination is to assist high conflict parents to implement their parenting plan, to monitor compliance with the details of the plan, to resolve conflicts regarding their children and the parenting plan in a timely manner, and to protect and sustain safe, healthy and meaningful parent-child relationships.

Parenting Coordinators teach parents how to communicate effectively about their children, help parents resolve conflict by teaching conflict resolution and problem solving skills, and educate parents about the detrimental effects that ongoing conflict has on their children.

Children caught in the middle of parents in high conflict are at an increased risk of:

  • Lower academic achievement
  • Behavioral problems
  • Poor psychological adjustment
  • Negative self-concept
  • Social difficulties
  • Relationship problems with their mother and father
  • Poor attachment with others now and in the future
  • Impulse control problems
  • Poor conflict resolution skills
